Wenz Places Sixth At Western A Classic

Bigfork’s cross-country teams delivered strong showings Saturday at the Western A Classic in Hamilton, led by standout performances from freshman Toren Wenz and senior Noah Hamilton-Dixon.

Wenz took sixth overall in the girls’ race with a time of 20:37, her latest top-10 finish this season. Hadley Nollan placed 22nd (22:07) and seniors Shannon Woll (64th, 25:44) and Ava Reynolds (65th, 25:48) finished within seconds of each other. Caton Fought took 66th (25:51), and Colbie Sullivan crossed 71st (26:33) as the Valkyries placed ninth as a team with 223 points.

In the boys’ race, Hamilton-Dixon led the way with a 10th-place finish in 17:32, while senior Nic Gustavson followed in 18th (17:58). Otto Schurke placed 38th (19:06), Bradley Wood 64th (20:37), Fisher Sliter 73rd (22:00), and Callen Ballard 78th (23:08), giving the Vikings a seventh-place team finish with 203 points.

Bigfork runners will advance to the MHSA Class A State Championships in Missoula next weekend.
