Arlee’s Van Maanen leads local runners; Two Eagle River girls place fourth

Arlee’s Trevor Van Maanen turned in another strong performance Thursday, placing eighth overall in 17 minutes, 54 seconds at the Western B/C Invitational hosted by Thompson Falls.

Van Maanen’s top-10 finish led the Warriors to a fifth-place team result in the boys’ standings with 120 points. He was followed by Aarinnario North Peigan (31st, 20:02), Jason Wright (36th, 20:17), William Fisher IV (40th, 20:23), and Aiden Swab (47th, 20:42). Chase Courville rounded out Arlee’s varsity lineup in 50th (21:01).

Two Eagle River placed sixth in the boys’ team race with 140 points. Jason Trahan paced the Eagles with a 22nd-place finish in 19:20, followed by Anthony Sheridan (30th, 19:52), Jayvian Burke (38th, 20:20), Ryiley Gates (48th, 20:46), and Raymond Mendoza (49th, 20:52).

Mission finished eighth (221 points), led by Jason Leishman (33rd, 20:07) and Jake Helser (54th, 21:18). Isaac Morigeau (61st, 21:50), Sonny Matt (63rd, 21:57), and Adley Larson (66th, 22:08) rounded out the Bulldogs’ scoring.

In the girls’ race, Two Eagle River earned a fourth-place team finish with 87 points. Luree Shotgun led the way in 32nd (25:31), followed by Emma Spotted Eagle (34th, 26:03), Sierra Hall (38th, 27:29), Arorah Madplume (39th, 27:33), and Christine Tenas (40th, 27:51).

Mission’s Raileigh McDonald (23rd, 24:16) and Brooklyn Leishman (24th, 24:18) ran well in the mid-pack, while Arlee’s Justine Shelby (26th, 24:40), Kaidance Pierre (28th, 25:08), and Izabella Knoll (35th, 26:31) also posted solid results for the Scarlets.

The top Lake County runners will run at the MHSA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 25 in Missoula.
