Polson stays perfect in conference with wins over Browning, Columbia Falls

The Polson Lady Pirates kept their undefeated conference record intact last week with a pair of victories: sweeping Browning on the road and surviving a five-set thriller against Columbia Falls.
Polson, now 9-1 overall and 8-0 in conference play, have Bigfork still hot on their heels in the Northwest A standings but are looking solid as the posteason looms.

The Lady Pirates made quick work of Browning on Oct. 14, winning 25-11, 25-15, 25-8 in a commanding performance.
Senior McKenna Corley powered the attack with 17 kills and two blocks, while Rylee Taylor-Jefferson dished out 15 assists and Zailee Hewankorn added 10 more to keep the offense humming. Aleysia Black was unstoppable from the service line, delivering nine aces, and also led the defense with five digs alongside Embree Bird, who tallied four kills and five digs of her own.
Polson’s front line dominated play at the net, with Corley, Opal Nash, and Mariah D’Beaupre combining for eight kills and two blocks.

The Lady Pirates showed a different kind of strength two nights later on Thursday, Oct. 16, battling through a back-and-forth match against a tough Columbia Falls squad to win 3-2. Stats were not available at press time.
