'Sno-Ciety' showing races into Sandpoint
Bonner County Daily Bee | UPDATED 1 month, 1 week AGO
Warren Miller’s latest release, “Sno-Ciety,” will be shown for one night only at Sandpoint’s Panida Theater, Saturday, Nov. 8. Doors open at 6 p.m., show time is at 7.
Tickets are $18 advance and available through the Panida Theater’s website. Tickets at the door are $20. A portion of the show proceeds go to support the Independence Ski Team’s mission to support local youth in the Sandpoint area.
The Panida will come alive as Warren Miller’s annual release serves as Sandpoint’s strong kick-off to the upcoming ski season. This year’s film, “Sno-Ciety,” centers on the idea of the strong bond of the “snow society,” a community present in ski towns, characterized by annual rituals and a strong sense of belonging to the winter community.
With all-new material, “Sno-Ciety” is Warren Miller’s 76th film, taking viewers from the Scottish Highlands and the streets of Finland to the back bowls of Whitewater, British Columbia, in Canada. It’s a true celebration of the upcoming winter season, featuring urban riding in Denver, backcountry powder, skiing in Austria, and tackling Tuckerman’s Ravine. “Sno-Ciety” will feature a diverse group of skiers and snowboarders, including Olympians like Daron Rahlves and Breezy Johnson, as well as local legends like Judd Henkes and Britta Winans.
North Idaho’s Independence Race Team will also be on hand with their 26th annual raffle fundraiser to raffle off their top-ranked collection of prizes on stage during intermission at the showing. Raffle prizes include a four-night, four-day ski vacation for two, lodging and Schweitzer lift tickets, a fly-fishing vacation, accommodation and guided fly fishing on the Kootenai River, a Marin mountain bike, and a Priest Lake Dog Sled Adventure for two.
The raffle is the team’s major fundraiser for the year. Raffle tickets can be purchased prior to the show and individuals do not need to be present to win. In addition, the NIIRT team members will hold a silent auction at the Warren Miller show with a Schweitzer season pass, restaurant gift certificates and gift baskets.
