TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — Things got crowded, both on and off the field, for the North Idaho College men’s soccer team on Thursday.
And third-year NIC men’s soccer coach Brad Williams wouldn’t want it any other way.
Freshman Federico Bellisi scored on an unassisted goal in the 63rd minute for the Cardinals, who beat Scenic West Athletic Conference leading Salt Lake 1-0 on Thursday at Bruin Field, moving into a three-way tie for third-place in the conference with one match remaining.
“We’re right where we want to be,” Williams said. “Had we lost, it would have been a lot harder. Now, we’re only depending on ourselves, and our destiny is in our hands.”
NIC (12-5-1, 8-4-1 SWAC, 25 points) is tied with Southern Idaho (8-7-1, 8-4-1, 25 points) and Utah State-Eastern (9-4-2, 8-4-1, 25 points).
Salt Lake (9-3-4, 9-2-2), ranked 18th in the nation, hosts Pacific Northwest Christian on Saturday to conclude the regular season.
On Saturday, NIC plays at Colorado Northwestern (1-12-2, 1-10-1) and CSI plays Utah State-Eastern in Price, Utah.
