The Pearl Theater has always been the venue to see concerts and plays in Bonners Ferry, but the theater is expanding programs to include a wider variety of events. Events offered at the Pearl now include groups, workshops, a drum circle, karaoke and much more.

Friday, Oct 24 — No Boundaries Halloween Bonanza, 7-11 p.m.

This event is for all ages and costumes are encouraged. Doors open at 7 p.m. and No Boundaries performs at 7:30. After the concert, DJ T.R.A.V.I.E. will keep the party going. Tickets are $5.

Saturday, Oct 25 — Custer's Grass Band, 7-10 p.m.

Custer’s Grass Band is one of the Northwest’s “first generation” bluegrass bands. Formed in 1976, the band recorded what is credited as “the first” LP bluegrass album in Washington state. The album, “Custer’s Grass Band” included special instrumental contributions by Grammy-winning fiddle virtuoso, Mark O’Connor.

Over the last three decades the band has performed at dozens of colleges, festivals, and music venues throughout the Pacific Northwest and Canada. Today, the band features two of the original members with Bob Asbury on banjo, and Les Panther playing guitar and dobro. Newer additions to the band feature Terry Ludiker, mandolin and fiddle; and Scott Brownlee on the bass fiddle. The group remains committed to delivering that “high lonesome” sound fundamental to the bluegrass genre.

Sunday, Oct 26 — Sunday Matinee, 2-4 p.m.

This is a free event. “The Craft” is a movie about a young girl new to a Catholic school befriends a coven of witches whom the other students either shun or fear. But when a powerful invocation goes wrong, the consequences could endanger their lives.

Monday, Oct 27 — Write In, 6-7:30 p.m.

Bring writing projects to work on and meet other local writers. There is no charge to participate.

Tuesday, Nov 4 — Belly Dance for Fun & Fitness, 6:15-7:15 p.m.

Belly Dance for Fun & Fitness is a four-week-long belly dance class designed for all ages and body types. Each hour-long class includes a short warm-up followed by instructions and drills and ending with a cool-down session. Organizers encourage participants to wear comfortable clothes for movement. Coin hip belts are provided.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 or $30 for a four-week pass.

Friday, Nov 7 — 18-plus Karaoke, 7 p.m.

Karaoke for ages 18 and above. This is a free event. Beer and cocktails will be available for purchase.

Built in 1894, the Pearl Theater was originally the first Catholic Church in Bonners Ferry. The historic building is now a theater that provides performance arts, and other events, to the growing community of Boundary County.

The Pearl Theater, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization founded in 2012 with the goal of providing quality performing arts in an intimate historic downtown art house. The Pearl Theater’s objective as a nonprofit is to foster and develop the artistic talents and skills of community members of all ages, to serve as an outreach to encourage and facilitate social activities, and to nurture excellence in the performing arts through the presentation of performing artists from the local area as well as national and international arenas.
