C-Falls outscores Libby, 50-26

COLUMBIA FALLS — Easton Brooks scored four touchdowns, including an interception return, and Columbia Falls outscored Libby 50-26 in a Northwest A football battle Friday.

Brooks caught three scoring passes from Wildcat quarterback Banyan Johnston, who was 17 of 26 passing for 196 yards, with one interception.  

Brooks’ TDs covered 14, 14, 44 and 16 yards — with the 44-yarder coming when he picked off Libby’s Tristan Andersen and took it in for a TD and a 36-18 lead in the third quarter. 

Andersen was picked off three times, twice for scores, but also completed 24 of 37 passes for 307 yards and a touchdown. The Libby quarterback also ran 18 times for 99 yards and two touchdowns. 

Trip Ross bookended the high-scoring game with 5-yard touchdown runs for Columbia Falls; he ran for 148 yards on 17 carries. Jory Hill caught six passes for 109 yards for the Cats, and Brooks had eight catches for 61 yards. 

For the Loggers, Bransen Holzer caught eight passes for 157 yards. Isaac Lamere caught seven passes for 65 yards and a TD. 

The win leaves Columbia Falls at 5-0 in Northwest A games and 5-3 overall. They have a bye through the first week of the Class A playoffs and will host either East Helena or Glendive on Nov.7-8. 

Libby ended up 4-4 overall and 2-3 in league games.

Polson 48, Ronan 8 

POLSON — Polson quarterback Case Cox threw three touchdown passes, two of them to Holden Emerson, and the Pirates beat Northwest A rival Ronan in the final game for both teams. 

Emerson had three catches for 85 yards, including touchdowns of 9 and 55 yards. Cox was 5 of 8 passing for 103 yards, and his third TD went to Cody Haggard. Daniel O’Roake had six carries for 85 yards for the Pirates (3-5 overall, 1-4 in Northwest A games), with two long touchdown runs. 

Bradley Smith and Luke Horner added scoring runs for Polson. 

Brodee Woll’s 7-yard run put the Chiefs (0-8, 0-5 in league) on the board.

Eureka 54, Thompson Falls 16 

EUREKA — Josh Lambertsen scored a touchdown rushing, receiving and via interception return, four of them in all, to lead Eureka to the Western B win. 

Lambertsen’s 10-yard scoring run started a 35-point first quarter for the Lions (6-2 overall, 4-1 in league games), who sewed up the Western B’s No. 2 seed with the win. He also caught a 32-yard scoring pass from Tyce Van Orden in the first quarter and added a 33-yard touchdown run and 49-yard pick-6 in the second. 

Van Orden also caught a 34-yard scoring strike from Rogan Lytle, who was 5-for-5 passing for 74 yards, including a 11-yard TD to Emmett McKim. Lyttle added a 20-yard scoring run; the Lions’ other TD came on a Timothy Schmidt run. 

Lambertson had 59 rushing yards on just four carries; Schmidt picked up 44 yards on two rushes. Eureka outgained Thompson Falls (2-6, 1-4 in league) 288-164 and intercepted three Blue Hawk passes. 

McKim had 10 tackles on defense; Hunter Grieve and Cayden Basinger als picked off passes. 

Mason Park scored both Blue Hawk TDs, covering 138 yards.
