PREP VOLLEYBALL: Priest River punches ticket to state for first time since 2015

Full caption: The Priest River High volleyball team is all smiles after overcoming a 24-18 second set deficit to sweep Grangeville (25-23, 26-24, 25-19) in a true 3A District 1-2 second-place game held Friday night at Priest River High. The win, their fourth over the Lady Bulldogs this year, gave the Lady Spartans their first state tournament berth since 2015. The effort comes after a a 3-0 loss (25-12, 25-23, 25-13) to Kellogg in the 3A District 1-2 Championship match held Thursday at Andrews Gymnasium. No other information was available from the two district tournament matches. Priest River (16-3) will return to action Oct. 30 through Nov. 1 for the 3A State Championship tournament, set to be held at the Mountain America Center in Idaho Falls.
