Juanita Kugler Burton passed away peacefully in Kalispell after a brief illness on Oct. 20, 2025.
She was predeceased by her husband Ted in 2019.
She is survived by her four children, Deb, Clare, Raymond and Beri and one grandson.
Juanita was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. After living in St. Paul, Fargo and Livingston, she graduated from the University of Montana, where she earned a degree in nutrition and institutional management. At the university, she met her husband Ted. Together they forged a life of overseas living, raising their children in Aruba, Venezuela and Nicaragua. Juanita will be remembered for her intrepid pursuit of authentic culture wherever she lived and traveled. She had an insatiable curiosity for everything and everyone, which she instilled in her children.
She was keenly intelligent, creative and thoughtful, and made the most of any situation. Juanita's positive attitude, beautiful smile and great sense of humor always served her well. After years of overseas living, she and Ted settled back in Montana and lived on Flathead Lake; it is there that she found peace and tranquility. Juanita's final years were spent at The Retreat at ILH where she was cared for so lovingly by staff members. The Burton family will be forever grateful for the excellent care she received.
