PREP SWIMMING: Coeur d'Alene boys, Lake City girls, Sandpoint claim district titles

MOSCOW — Coeur d’Alene’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of Andrew Davis, Owen Keith, Jace Voeller and Dawson Cushman set the district record in 1 minute, 34.89 seconds, leading the Vikings to the 6A District 1 championship on Saturday at the University of Idaho Pool. 

Cushman also won in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, Davis in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle and Voeller the 200 IM and 100 butterfly for Coeur d’Alene, which finished with 184 points. 

Lake City’s Quinn Taylor (100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke) and Tillie Sobek (200 freestyle, 500 freestyle) claimed individual wins, helping the Timberwolves claim the girls team title. 

The top two individuals and winning relays advance to state Nov. 7-8 at the Idaho Central Aquatics Center in Boise. Wild-cards are also available and will be announced following the state seeding meeting on Nov. 2 in Boise.

MOSCOW — Sandpoint, which claimed both the boys and girls team titles last year at state, cruised to regional titles at the University of Idaho Pool. 

It was the eighth straight regional title for the Sandpoint girls, who finished with 199 points. Mia Driggs won the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly for the Bulldogs.

Sandpoint’s boys won with 195 points. Lou Foust doubled in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke. 

The top three individuals and winning relays advanced to state. Wild-card bids will be announced on Nov. 2 after the state seeding meeting in Boise.
