MOSCOW — Sophomore Lou Foust racked up four gold medals, five different Bulldog swimmers collected three golds of their own, and the Sandpoint boys and girls swam to 5A District 1-2 titles on Saturday at the University of Idaho Swim Center.

Foust won the 500 free (5:18.70) and the 100 back (59.34) and was a part of the winning 200 free (1:33.70) and 400 free relays (3:27.48) for the Sandpoint's boys, which were victorious in nine of 11 events and defeated runner-up Moscow by 72 points.

Senior McCoy Jensen finished first in the 200 IM (2:09.27), senior Kai Leavitt first in the 50 free (22.71), senior Kale Wright first in the 100 free (50.86), and freshman Andrew Ford first in the 100 breast (1:03.22) for the Bulldogs, which earned 13 individual and three relay automatic state berths in addition to their second straight district title.

Jensen, Wright and Leavitt were also a part of the winning of 200 free and 400 free relays and Ford, freshman Bo Zeller, and sophomores Max Brown and Bodi Demmons combined to win the 200 medley relay in 1 minute, 51.06 seconds.

For the girls, senior Mia Driggs won both the 50 free (25.77) and the 100 fly (1:04.22) and was a part of the winning 400 free relay (3:57.62). Fellow senior Reina Montecchi picked up a first-place finish in the 100 free (57.87) and was a part of both the 400 free relay and winning 200 free relay (1:48.24) for the Lady Bulldogs, which were victorious in five of 11 events and beat out runner-up Moscow by 56 points.

Freshman Alivia Storms and Claire Ballard were a part of the gold-medal 200 and 400 free relays. Senior Rachel Aylward was a part of 200 free relay and collected two individual state berths for Sandpoint's girls, which earned nine individual and two relay automatic state berths in addition to their eighth straight district title.

Sandpoint will return to the pool for the 5A State Championship, set to be held Friday, Nov. 7, and Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Idaho Central Aquatics Center in Boise. Wildcards are available and will be announced following the state seeding meeting on Sunday in Boise.
