Wilson shines in Orediggers rout over Comets

BUTTE — Polson product Jarrett Wilson threw for 184 yards and scored four total touchdowns in No. 4 Montana Tech’s 51-0 runaway victory over Mayville State (ND) on Saturday.
Montana Tech (8-0, 3-0 in the East Division) running back Christian Vette led all rushers with 111 yards and one score. Nate Milanowski and Wilson combined for another 58 yards on the ground. Nick Michelotti hauled in two catches for 63 yards and a touchdown.
Mayville State (5-4, 2-2 in div.) did not complete a pass on three attempts. The Comets had 12 different players with at least one rushing attempt, combining 188 yards on 51 attempts. Tech outgained Mayville State 438 to 188.
The Orediggers jumped out to a 21-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. Michelotti scored the first touchdown of the game with a 25-yard touchdown reception. Wilson found the endzone on a 15-yard rush, and Cole Graham returned a fumble to score 13 yards out.
Wilson found Levi Torgerson and Derek Pearse for 3-yard scores in the second quarter. Johnson punched in a 12-yard run to give Tech a 41-0 lead at the break
Montana Tech travels to Rocky Mountain next Saturday for an undefeated conference matchup between both teams.
Rocky 35, MSU-Northern 21
HAVRE — Trent Nobach threw for 260 yards and three touchdowns to push Rocky Mountain over MSU-Northern in a 35-21 victory on Saturday.
Rocky Mountain (3-4, 3-0 in the East Division) receivers Dylan Flatt and Darius Haskin combined for 11 catches for 178 yards and three scores. MSU-Northern (1-7, 1-3 in the East) quarterback Ethan Maroni had 191 yards in the air and two touchdowns, and Lights receiver Mason Ahrins led all receivers with 110 yards.
Braydon Cline’s 2-yard rushing touchdown opened the scoring for Northern just under five minutes into the game. Haskin caught a 5-yard pass to even the game on the following drive.
The Bears outscored the Lights 21-0 from that moment. Tuff Adams punched in a 1-yard score and Flatt caught a 61-yard touchdown to give Rocky a 21-7 lead going into halftime.
Haskin scored his second touchdown of the game on Rocky’s first drive of the second half, connecting with Nobach for 23 yards.
The Northern Lights pulled the game within reach with under one-minute remaining of the game after Maroni found Ahrins and Colter Woldstad for passing touchdowns of 19 and 39 yards.
Bears Brock Ping put the nail in the coffin after rushing for a 72-yard touchdown with 35 seconds left in the game. Ping finished with 102 yards on the ground.
Montana Western 65, Simpson 0
REDDING, Cal. — Bulldog running backs Jakob Humphrey and Aidan Lammers combined for 172 yards and four touchdowns in No. 20 Montana Western’s 65-0 rout over Simpson (CA) on Saturday.
Western (5-3, 2-2 in the West Division) quarterback Michael Palandri threw for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Eli Nourse led all receivers with 70 yards.
Simpson (0-8, 0-4 in the East) was held to 14 rushing yards and were outgained 94-423. Red Hawks played four different quarterbacks that totaled 80 yards and two interceptions.
The duo of Humphrey and Lammers each scored rushing touchdowns to jump out to a 14-0 lead at the beggining of the second quarter. The Bulldogs continued to dominate the first half with 20 more points scored before the break.
Maclain Burckley kicked two field goals from 26 and 55 yards out, and Palandri threw two touchdowns to Seth Shook and Nourse to give Western a 34-0 lead at halftime.
On the first play of the second half, Bulldogs defensive lineman Tyler Walker recovered a fumble to score a touchdown.
Humphrey and Lammers continued pounding the rock, and they each scored another touchdown in the third quarter.
Burckley made his third field goal of the game in the final period from 35-yards. Jordan Jones scored the final touchdown of the game on a 23-yard rush.
