PONDERAY — For those looking to add a little more holiday charm to their home, the Rotary Club of Ponderay is offering a basket of red poinsettias for its new fall fundraiser.

The basket of six-inch poinsettias, which are grown in the region, will cost $20 and will be available for pickup Wednesday, Dec. 3. Rotary officials said that the funds raised will support the club’s ongoing projects, like adding AEDs across the area, and the club’s scholarship for local high school graduates, those continuing education and an aeronautical scholarship.

The fundraiser was inspired by Rotary's ongoing spring fundraiser, which offers hanging flower baskets. Rotary officials said that the poinsettias are grown by the same greenhouse where they purchased the hanging flower baskets and that the flowers could last years with proper care.

“Many customers have just recently thrown away their hanging flower basket which they enjoyed for many months this summer,” Tiffany Goodvin, Ponderay Rotary member, said. “Now, they can enjoy a poinsettia that can last for many years with proper care.”

Rotary officials said the deadline to place an order for a basket of poinsettias is Sunday, Nov. 23. Orders can be made at ponderayrotaryclub.com or by mailing a check to Ponderay Rotary Club, P.O. Box 813, Ponderay, ID 83852.
