Libby, Troy offer plenty for trick or treaters of all ages

Get ready for a spooktacular time this Halloween in south Lincoln County, where plenty of events are lined up to offer fun, frights and treats for all ages. 

Whether you're looking for a family-friendly trick-or-treat or something with a bit more of a scare factor, the area has something for everyone.

One of the highlights of the celebration is the long-running store-to-store trick-or-treat event in Libby, organized by the Libby Area Business Association.

On Friday, Oct. 31, Mineral Avenue, from Timberline Auto Sales to the Keep, will be closed from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to make way for costumed kids and families, who will wander from store to store collecting candy. Businesses outside the area are encouraged to join in on the fun by setting up booths along the street.

Alongside the store-to-store event, the Libby Christian Church will host a trunk or treat from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., offering games, candy, and free food for all. 

There will also be a trunk or treat organized by the Rotary Club of the Kootenai Valley from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Mineral Avenue in Libby where visitors can enjoy treats, games and free hot dogs.

At Cabinet Mountain Brewing Company, it is hosting a brewery bash. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. featuring a local band, Saxual Chocolate. They are extending their Happy Hour noshes until 7 p.m. and guests can enjoy spanakopita, Korean BBQ Pork, jumbo shrimp flights and bacon-wrapped dates.

Also, every costumed patron receives 10% off a meal and prizes will be awarded for the scariest, funniest and best duo costumes.

The Red Dog Saloon is hosting a costume contest on Halloween night at 4 p.m.

Participants can snap a picture of their costume (camera provided). The Red Dog will post a poll the next day for your chance to win a fall basket and a Red Dog gift card.

Red, White and Brews in Libby is also hosting a costume contest, Friday, Oct. 31.

Costume categories include scariest, most patriotic, best couples costume and most original.

Voting starts at 9 p.m., and remember, the crowd decides the winners, so bring your loudest crew to cheer you on! Prizes awarded for each category!

In Troy, the Troy Youth Foundation will host a trunk or treat from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31 at the Troy Activity Center parking lot.

In Troy, the Silver Spur is holding a party and costume contest at 8 p.m. Area 56 will be playing live music.

Also that night, Maki Theater presents the musical “Little Shop of Horrors” by Voices Unfolding from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free on Halloween, but donations will be accepted. 

For shows on Nov. 1 and Nov. 7-8, tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets are available at the Kaiju Bar, Hav-A-Java and Pink Bench Distilling in Troy.

Show times on Nov. 1 and Nov. 8 are 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Show time on Nov. 7 is 7 p.m.
