Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 5 months, 1 week AGO
James L. Folk passed away Sept. 25, 2025, at home with his daughter, Ronda K. Mein, and Rick Bogar by his side.
He was born Sept. 9, 1940, to Lucas and Myrtle Folk in Wilmot, S.D. He graduated from Wallace High School in May 1958 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 1958. Jim and Linda Fairweather were married in Wallace, Idaho, in November 1963. He spent his years working as a delivery driver for Garrett Freightlines in Wallace; after that closed, he had various jobs before spending the rest of his career with Consolidated Freightways in Spokane, Wash., until retirement.
After retiring, Jim and Linda traveled to Arizona during the winter months and made many dear and lifelong friends.
Summer weekends were spent camping with family and friends on the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River, making precious memories.
Jim was a long-standing member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and an avid outdoorsman. He loved ice fishing when winter permitted and talked continuously about the good times at elk camp with his great friends, Tom Schoening and Brian Roos.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucas and Myrtle Folk; his wife of 60 years, Linda (Fairweather) Folk; daughter Roberta Schoening; son Gregory Folk; and brother-in-law Gary Fairweather. He is survived by his daughter, Ronda Mein (Rick Bogar); son Kevin (Lena) Folk; sister Anita (Jim) Jacobsen; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law Robert (Mary) Fairweather and Stan (Tina) Fairweather; and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
