Big Sky announces 2026 football schedule

The announcement wrapped up Idaho football’s slate for next season. With the conference expanding to include Southern Utah and Utah Tech, losing Sacramento State and playing nine conference games instead of eight, the scheduling will look different this upcoming season.

Idaho will play six home games and six away games; five of the nine conference games will be road games. The Vandals will open with a Big Sky game, at Cal Poly on Aug. 29, then play three nonconference games before resuming conference play.


2026 Idaho Football Schedule

Aug. 29: at Cal Poly

Sept. 3 (Thursday): at Utah

Sept. 12: vs. LAMAR

Sept. 19: vs. ABILENE CHRISTIAN

Oct. 3: vs. MONTANA STATE

Oct. 10: at Weber State

Oct. 17: at Montana

Oct. 24: vs. SOUTHERN UTAH

Oct. 31: at Portland State

Nov. 7: vs. EASTERN WASHINGTON

Nov. 14: vs. UC DAVIS

Nov. 21: at Idaho State


Eastern Washington will play nine conference games, including five matchups at Roos Field.

The Eagles open the year with a Big Sky game at Northern Arizona on Aug. 29, and also have conference trips to UC Davis (Oct. 3), Idaho (Nov. 7) and Utah Tech (Nov. 14).

The Eagles' first Big Sky home game is Sept. 26 against Cal Poly. EWU then hosts Northern Colorado on Oct. 10, then are home against Montana State (Oct. 17) and Montana (Oct. 31). EWU concludes its home schedule on Nov. 21 against Portland State.

The Eagles’ three-game nonconference schedule begins with a home matchup against Northern Iowa on Sept. 5, completing a home-and-home series with the Panthers. Eastern then travels to South Dakota on Sept. 12, before facing Washington on Sept. 19 in Seattle.
