SANDPOINT — Pilot Training Northwest, a cornerstone of aviation education in Sandpoint since 2017 will transition to All Sports Aviation, effective Nov. 1.

Pilot Training Northwest has been part of the Sandpoint aviation community for many years, and Jacob Klinginsmith, who purchased the company from founder Ken Larson in 2022, will hand the reins to All Sports Aviation managed by Gary Brook while ensuring a smooth transition and continued support for local youth aviation programs.

Pilot Training Northwest has a long history of helping students achieve their flight goals, from first flights to advanced ratings, while maintaining strong community engagement and collaboration with local schools.

“I'm happy to carry on the traditions of Pilot Training Northwest, offering help to the youth of Sandpoint and beyond. We have a branch in Deer Park, and we're excited to expand our training to Sandpoint. My passion is helping all ages learn to fly, and especially learn to fly in the amazing Idaho back country this area has to offer,” said Gary Brook, incoming owner.

All Sports Aviation will offer flight instruction, aircraft rental, and youth outreach programs at Sandpoint Airport, collaborating with other organizations to provide student discounts and scholarships. They also plan to increase the size and variety of the training fleet, adding more tailwheel, backcountry, and seaplane training to the already diverse offerings of PTN.

“Gary and I have worked together for years now and our vision for flight training is very similar,” said Klinginsmith.  “We both love aviation and want to make aviation accessible, safe, and achievable for everyone from beginners to advanced skill in the backcountry. Gary has a lot of energy and I’m excited to see him offer even more to the aviators in our area!”

All Sports Aviation is a full-service pilot training provider focused on continuous learning, innovative teaching methods, and helping pilots of all skill levels develop confidence and proficiency. Programs range from Private Pilot License to Commercial, Aerobatic, Tailwheel, and Seaplane training, with flights conducted at the Deer Park and Sandpoint Airports and other locations throughout northern Idaho.
