BOUNDARY COUNTY — A Boundary County man is facing multiple charges of aggravated assault and alleged rape of two different women over a four-year period.
Michael A. Lange, 52, pleaded not guilty on Oct. 22, 2025, to three counts of rape and four counts of aggravated assault for incidents alleged to have taken place between 2021 through 2025. Boundary County Prosecuting Attorney Andrakay Pluid said additional federal charges are pending.
Lange is being held in Boundary County jail on a $200,000 bond. First District Judge Susie Jensen denied a defense motion for a reduced bond reduction.
The prosecution argued against lowering the bond, with Pluid saying the alleged victims in the case are extraordinarily afraid of Lange. Lange’s attorney said Lange was being evicted from his housing due to his arrest and needed to be let out to move his items.
According to court documents, a Boundary County Deputy Sheriff alleged that from November 2021 to May 2025, Lange threatened two women with a gun on four separate occasions. The documents also allege that Lange raped the pair during this time.
Initial charges were filed on Sep. 18, 2025 for the alleged abuse. A no-contact order was also filed against Lange by both women.
If convicted, Lange faces up to five years in prison on each of the aggravated assault charges and up to life in prison on each of the rape charges. A three-day trial has been set for Feb. 9, 2026.
