Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal members who receive SNAP benefits may switch over to the tribal commodities program, if needed, according to a Facebook post by Rob McDonald, CSKT Communications Director. But there are a couple of steps involved. To switch, members will need to disenroll from SNAP and apply for the CSKT Food Distribution Program.
SNAP requires people to sign up for one program at a time. CSKT administrators strongly suggest people wait until SNAP confirms it will stop issuing support in November, and then they can disenroll from SNAP and begin registration for the Food Distribution Program operated by CSKT. For more information, call 406-745-4115.
The Food Distribution Program is located in St. Ignatius on 410 Mountain View Drive and is open 8 to 4:30 Monday to Friday. The warehouse closes at 4:30 p.m. and will be closed the first two working days each month, which in November will be Nov. 3 and 4. Visit CSKT.ORG website at www.cskt.org/dhrd under the food distribution link.
