Cardinal men open 

at regionals today

North Idaho College opens play against Salt Lake in the men’s Region 18 soccer tournament today at 1:30 p.m. PDT at Bruin Field in Taylorsville, Utah.

NIC (13-5-1), is seeded third after beating the second-seeded Bruins (10-3-4) 1-0 last Thursday in a regular season match, then beating Colorado Northwestern. 

Snow (13-4) is the tournament’s top seed, and will face fourth-seeded Utah State-Eastern (10-4-2) in the first semifinal today. 

Salt Lake (14-1-2) is the top women’s seed and will face fourth-seeded Colorado Northwestern (10-6-1) in a semifinal match. Second-seeded Snow (11-3-3) faces third-seeded Utah State-Eastern (9-4-4) in the other semifinal. 

In the men’s tournament, the Region 18 champion will face the District 1 champion on Nov. 8 for the West District championship and automatic berth to the NJCAA Tournament Nov. 16-22 in Daytona Beach, Fla. 

The Region 18 women’s champion will host the winner of the District 1 tournament, with that winner advancing to nationals Nov. 16-22 in Enid, Okla.
