COEUR d’ALENE — It’s not often that a person reaches 45 years at the same job.
But Beverly’s chef Mark Bertram has. After all, he’s never had a reason to leave.
“They’ve treated me well, and I’ve always loved cooking,” Bertram said, adding that he feels he “started at the top” by beginning his career at Beverly’s.
Bertram was presented with an engraved cleaver in addition to his commemorative 45-year pin at the 34th annual After 5 Luncheon on Wednesday, which honored a total of 417 employees across the Hagadone portfolio that have been with the company for at least five years.
Ninety-eight employees were presented with pins marking milestones from five to 50 years with Hagadone.
“(Our) mission is taking care of you guys and letting you know how much we appreciate you,” said Hagadone Corporation President Brad Hagadone.
The luncheon also proved to be a celebration of the year’s accomplishments across the Hagadone portfolio.
“We’ve changed North Idaho for the better, without a doubt,” said Clint Schroeder, president and corporate publisher of Hagadone Media Group.
Coeur d’Alene Resort President Bill Reagan similarly said that it's been “nothing short of an incredible year.”
Reagan shared that in addition to continued work on Sherman Tower, upcoming projects at The Resort are set to include a new front entry, a heated granite sidewalk and a remodel of Tito’s Italian Grill.
But, as Hagadone emphasized, none of it would be possible without a dedicated workforce.
“You can put a fortune into brick and mortar, but it’s this great team of people that make this all happen,” Hagadone said.

Clark's 'Let it Snow' campaign is back again
As the owner of Clark’s Diamond Jewelers on Sherman Avenue, Jane Clark would be the first to say that she’s no meteorologist. Even so, she’s learned a whole lot about snow over the years, thanks to the store’s annual “Let it Snow” campaign.
