The Whitefish cross country teams closed out their fall campaign with determined efforts at the MHSA Class A State Championships on Saturday at the University of Montana Golf Course, placing several runners in the top half of a competitive field.
For the Lady Bulldogs, freshman Kendall Dye led the way, finishing 47th overall with a time of 22 minutes, 6 seconds. She was closely followed by juniors Sierra Gibb (51st, 22:13), Grace Inabnit (60th, 22:29), and Sophie Douglas (61st, 22:38), giving Whitefish a tight pack through the middle of the race. Senior Maren Cromie rounded out the team’s scoring five in 73rd place at 22:58.
Freshmen Addie Nerdig (79th, 23:18) and Kalina Bruckerhoff (86th, 23:27) also turned in strong efforts, with Bruckerhoff setting a personal record to close out her debut season.
The Whitefish girls showcased impressive depth and consistency, as all seven runners finished within a 1 minute, 20 second spread, one of the most compact packs among Class A programs.
On the boys’ side, sophomore Mason Loeffler led the Bulldogs with a 94th-place finish in 19:27, just edging out freshman Carver Brown by a second. Juniors Ean Flynn (20:01) and seniors Logan Hyland (20:02) and Peter Schram (20:04) stayed close behind, demonstrating a disciplined team strategy through the middle miles.
