HARRISON — The future of historic One Shot Charlie's got an extra boost recently.

The bar and restaurant was one of 50 restaurants nationwide to receive a grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express through its Backing Historic Small Restaurants program.

The $50,000 grant is intended to help restaurants upgrade and grow their businesses, KXLY first reported.

The program has given out 180 such grants to restaurants around the country over the past five years. One Shot Charlie's was the only Idaho restaurant to receive the grant this year.

One Shot Charlie's got its start in 1952 when an immigrant named Charlie Jenicek bought the restaurant then known as the Oasis Tavern. The restaurant is known for its unique decor, tasty burgers and sharable menu items, and its lakeside atmosphere.

"If anyone has heard of Harrison, Idaho, chances are they've been to One Shot Charlie's," the website reads.
