Girls soccer drops Laurel, first time in years

Finally.

The Columbia Falls Girls’ Wildkat Soccer team derailed Laurel Locomotives on Friday, Aug. 29 at Flip Darling Memorial Field by a score of 3-0. Leading the way in scoring for the Wildkats was Bella Mann with a hat trick

It was the first win over the Locomotives in seven years, including some heartbreaking losses to the Locomotives in the playoffs.

Mann scored her first of three goals  at the at 23-minute mark (assist Mila Johns). Her second would come at the 31-minute mark (assist Onnika Lawrence). The last of the hat trick and the one to put the game away for the Kats would be a solo shot at the 44-minute mark to put the game away. Elaina Dorr and the defense also made a strong showing on the night and kept the Locomotives off the board when they tried to apply offensive pressure.

The Wildkats outshot the Locomotives 19 to 10 on the night.

The Kats will face conference rival Whitefish Thursday at home at 5 p.m. On Tuesday, the played Glacier JV and won 10-0 in a nonconference game.
