James 'Jim' Early, 92

James "Jim" Early went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025. He was born on Dec. 19, 1932, in Victor, Colorado to Dick and Adelle Johnson. When Adelle passed, Andrew and Anna Early adopted him when he was eleven years old. He lived in Steamboat Springs, Colorado where he played clarinet in the Ski Band. They then moved to Englewood, Colorado, where he graduated from high school. At fifteen, he met his wife, Marge Early, at a family get together in Indian Hills, Colorado. When he was seventeen years old, he was picked to go to England and Scotland with the Civil Air Patrol.
After graduation from high school, he attended Denver University, studying engineering and participated in the ROTC program. During college he married Marge. After college, he went to work for the City and County of Los Angeles. He was then called to service and served in the Army for two years. He served at Fort Belvoir in Virgina and in Germany.
Upon leaving the Army, he returned to work for the City & County of Los Angeles. After six months, he went to work for John A. Martin and Associates in Southern California. He earned his master's in engineering at the University of Southern California in 1959.
In 1960, his son, Rick was born into the family. In 1965 they adopted his daughter, Cathy.
In 1966, the family moved to Hawaii to open a branch office for Martin and Associates. The intent was to stay one year and then move back to Southern California. The family ended up staying in Hawaii for fifteen years and Jim became a full partner in the business.
In 1982, the family moved back to Denver to open a new office for the business.
In 1988 the family moved to Reno, Nevada to open another branch office for the business.
In 1997 he retired from Martin and Associates.
In 2009 he and his wife moved to Kalispell to be closer to family.
During his life, Jim was always active in the church were attending as well as the Christian Business Mans Association and local men’s Bible studies.
Jim leaves behind, his wife of 72 years, Marge, their children, Rick and Cathy, their grandchildren, Samantha, James, Miya and Conner and their great-grandchildren, Henry and Norah. He will be missed by his family, and they will hold on to the many cherished memories of him and his life.
A celebration of his life will be held at Easthaven Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13. A light lunch will be provided after the service.
