Wentz shines at Libby Invite

Bigfork’s cross-country team showed strong early-season form at the Libby Invitational on Friday, with Vikings placing in the top tier against a stacked field of more than 90 runners from across Montana and Idaho.
Freshman Toren Wenz cracked the top 15 in a deep and competitive girls field.
Wenz placed 12th overall with a time of 20:42.58, setting a personal record in her high school debut and finishing just behind Lewiston’s Addisyn Storm. Her performance put her among the top freshmen finishers of the day.
Junior Otto Schurke added another steady effort for Bigfork, coming across in 64th at 19:11.53.
In the boys race, senior Noah Hamilton-Dixon led the way, clocking 18:00.59 to place 38th overall. Fellow senior Nic Gustavson was close behind, finishing 45th in 18:21.44. Junior Otto Schurke turned in a personal record with a 19:11.53, good for 64th place, giving Bigfork three consistent finishers in the middle of the pack.
The Vikings faced tough competition from powerhouse programs like Glacier, Flathead, Sandpoint and Timberlake.
