The Arlee boys cross country team put together a solid team effort Friday at the Plains Invite, placing five runners inside the top 15 and showing steady progress as the postseason approaches.
Junior Trevor Van Maanen led the Warriors with a strong fourth-place finish, clocking 18 minutes, 55.82 seconds on the hilly Plains course. His performance put him in front of much of the field, as only three runners — all underclassmen — were able to break the 18-minute barrier.
Senior Aiden Swab backed him up with an 11th-place finish in 21:43.61, while freshman Aarinnario North Peigan continued his improvement with a personal-best 21:52.10, good for 12th place. Close behind was junior William Fisher IV, who also ran a personal best of 22:07.93 for 13th.
Senior Chase Courville rounded out the scoring for Arlee, finishing 15th in 23:47.81.
On the girls side, freshman Izabella Knoll paced the Scarlets with a time of 28 minutes, 19.67 seconds, good for seventh place overall. It was a personal-best performance for Knoll, who continues to settle into the 5K distance at the varsity level.
Fellow freshman Kaidance Pierre was just behind in eighth, also setting a personal record with a time of 28:39.50.
