Beverly Carlson, 93

Beverly Carlson, 93, passed away Aug. 18, 2025, while residing at The Springs of Butte.
Beverly was born Nov. 30, 1931, in Great Falls to Ingolf Birkeland and Elizabeth (Flagler) Birkeland. She grew up in Fort Benton with her six siblings.
After graduating from high school, Beverly received her bachelor's degree from Montana State College in Elementary Education and Home Economics. She moved to Billings where she began teaching.
She married John Carlson on Nov. 28, 1958. Together they had three children: Sarah, Martha and John David.
In 1985 she and John retired and moved to the east shore of Flathead Lake where they built their dream home. Together they landscaped and created a beautiful yard with many well-cared-for flower beds. Beverly especially enjoyed her daffodils when they came up early in the spring.
In October of 1989, Bev became a charter member of P.E.O. Chapter CA Polson, a philanthropic sisterhood which provides educational opportunities for women. She wholly endorsed the mission of the P.E.O Sisterhood. She was an avid supporter of the organization's annual Next To New Sale and See's Candy fundraiser. She cherished friendships which formed during her many years of involvement.
After John's passing in 1993, Beverly became actively involved in the Polson Beautification Project and received recognition as a Citizen of the Year from the Polson Chamber of Commerce in 1994. She additionally served as a Hospice volunteer for a period of time.
Beverly was a gracious host and enjoyed having family at her home especially during the summer when her grandkids could roast hot dogs and make 'smores at the fire pit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, and all of her siblings: Frances, Barbara, Helen, Margaret, Tom and Phyllis.
She is survived by her three children: Sarah Laskowski, in Sarasota, Fla.; Martha (David) Farrand in Whitehall; and J. David Carlson in Bigfork. Additionally, she is survived by eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place at Axelson Funeral Home. A burial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Beverly to: P.E.O. Chapter CA, Attn: Jane Laraby, 32564 Skidoo Lane, Polson, MT 59860.
