Starting Sept. 8, the Glacier Art Museum hosts the 18th annual Plein Air Glacier: Paint Out, Exhibition and Sale.

This year, 30 established artists from Montana and around the country were selected by a panel of jurors to participate. The artists will travel to northwest Montana to paint outdoors in the fresh air, “en plein air," Sept. 8 through 12.

On Sept. 9, many of the artists will participate in a public painting day in Glacier National Park from 8 a.m. to noon and from 4 to 7 p.m. at Apgar Village, the Lake McDonald shoreline, Belton Train Station and the historic Belton Bridge.

Paintings created on location during this event will range in size and medium from watercolor to oils.

From 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 13, an opening fundraiser sale event will be held featuring more than 60 paintings created during the event. Awards for Curator and Artist Choice will be announced during the event, which will have live music, food and drinks. The cost to attend is $5 for museum members and $10 for nonmembers and can be paid at the door.

An online sale will be held Sept. 16 through October 11.

Proceeds from the fundraiser event benefit the museum’s educational programs and exhibitions and the museum's mission to enrich the cultural life of the community and preserve the artistic legacy of Montana and Glacier National Park, as well as help support artists.

The artists are: Janet Armstrong, Jaden Attard, Karrie Baldwin, Stephanie Barrett-Pointer, Sydney Boveng, Sandy Bridgewater, Anke Brooks, Richie Carter, Pamm Ciupa, Leah Cupino, Gwen Day, Genevieve DeLorme Attard, Therese Ely, Jane Latus Emmert, Natalie Fisher, M.A. Fox, Bonnie Zahn Griffith, Denise Lemaster, Cody Ling, Dave Mihalic, Wanda Mumm, Sheri Nagy, Mark Ogle, Bobby Oshaben, Susan Oursland, Alyssa Shaw, Leah Spence, Louis Still Smoking, Lindsay Jane Ternes and Ron Ukrainetz.

Artwork will be exhibited at the museum through Oct. 11. The art museum is located at 302 Second Ave. E., Kalispell. General admission is free for members, $8 for nonmembers, $6 for seniors and veterans and $4 for students and active military. Youth under 18 are free.
