Rich traditions, timeless stories, unforgettable songs.

"The History of Country Music," a brand-new production written and produced by local musician and storyteller Rusty Jackson, will come to life on stage at 7 p.m. Sept. 19.

Presented by the Northwest Country Music Association and Amazing Entertainment, the show will take audiences on a musical journey from the roots of country up through the outlaw era of the late 1970s. Guests will hear classic hits and the stories behind them as this performance shines the spotlight on the legends who shaped the genre, from Hank Williams and Johnny Cash to Dolly Parton and beyond.

“Country music is more than just songs — it’s the soundtrack of 20th-century American life,” Jackson said in an Aug. 24 news release. “This show was created to honor the artists and the moments that defined generations while also bringing the community together to celebrate the music we love.”

Blending live performance, narration and storytelling, "The History of Country Music" will entertain as it educates, ideal for longtime country fans and newcomers alike.

The show will be at the Midge & Pepper Smock Family Theater at the Kroc Center, 1765 W. Golf Course Road, Coeur d'Alene. Tickets range from $18-$36 and are available at kroccda.org/events.

This production is part of the Northwest Country Music Association’s ongoing mission to preserve and promote country music in the Northwest, while providing audiences with high-quality entertainment experiences.
