Irma L. (Wolfinger) Doney, 97, passed away Aug. 21, 2025, at Silverton Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia in Silverton, Idaho, where she had been a resident for several years. Irma was born Nov. 22, 1927, in Polson, Mont., a daughter of Benton and Lola (Barr) Wolfinger.
Irma graduated from Polson High School and married Donald Doney on March 12, 1946.
Her working career included running a day care, working at the dry cleaners in Wallace, Idaho, Britt’s Garden Spot, which later became Stein’s Market, in Osburn, Idaho, and then at the office of the Shoshone County Clerk and Recorder.
Irma was avidly involved with the Sweet Adelines, the Women’s VFW Auxiliary and later a member of the Red Hat Society. Irma led a long and prosperous life and, unfortunately, outlived most of her dear friends and acquaintances.
In addition to her parents, Irma is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Donald; a son, Dennis; a daughter, Dawn Elaine; and two granddaughters, Casey Bergem and Keri Tester.
She is survived by one son, Lloyd (Vicki) Doney of Bull Lake, Mont.; three grandsons, John Potts, and Rick and Todd McNinch; two great-grandsons, Jake (Kate) Tester and Josh Tester; and a great-granddaughter, Briana Bergem.
At Irma’s request, no services will be held.
Shoshone Funeral Services, Kellogg, is assisting the Doney family with arrangements.
