Jerry Boyd North, 80, died Aug. 6, 2025, in the family home in Pinehurst, Idaho.
He was born Oct. 6, 1944, in Huron, S.D., to Darwin and Ann (Styer) North, along with five brothers and four sisters: Glen (Valarie) Jr., Kay, Robert (Karen), Mary Ann (Charles), Daniel, Nancy (Richard), Sally (William), Jack, all of South Dakota, and Paul (Belinda) of Wyoming.
He grew up around Huron, S.D. He worked for M Sainth Railroad in Minnesota. He married DeLila in July 1964 in Albert Lea, Minn. They moved to Idaho in 1967 and raised seven children: Jack (Debbie), Jay (Kathy), Shane (Kimberly), Jess (Angie), Wade, LeRoy (Corina), all from Idaho, and Sandy of South Dakota; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Jerry worked at a sawmill until it closed. Then tried logging at Bunker Hill. Started at Sunshine Mine. While the mine was on strike, he drove long-haul trucking. After the strike was over, he went back to Sunshine where he was hurt then retired.
He was a very active member of Odd Fellow Lodge for over 50 years. He loved to walk and ride horses with his children on his mountain.
Jerry went to be with his wife, DeLila; son Jess; his parents and sisters, Kay and Peggy; and the rest of the family.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, at Day’s Cemetery in Osburn, Idaho. Following the graveside services, we will have a potluck gathering at the Odd Fellow Gazebo located at the Kellogg City Park (514 McKinley Ave., Kellogg, ID 83837).
