Bailey Mohler, 16, was safely located in Williston, N.D., family members of the missing teen announced in a Facebook post Wednesday evening.
According to the post, a North Dakota resident saw a poster of Mohler at a Williston market. He later spotted an individual walking down an alley that resembled Mohler, which prompted him to call the number listed on the missing poster — Mohler’s mother — the night of Sept. 2.
Through working with the Williston Police Department, deputies were able to confirm that the teen found was Mohler. She was then taken in by law enforcement the evening of Sept. 3 to await her parents’ arrival.
No additional details have been released on the matter. Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler shared in a Facebook post that the investigation is still “open with coordinating agencies.”
Bailey Mohler was reported missing Aug. 30 following her disappearance in the north Sandpoint area.
Family members were quick to reach out to the public, with Facebook group “Help Find Bailey,” created with the intention of spreading information and awareness about the missing teen. By the time Bailey was found, the group had over 2,000 members in it.
Mohler’s family, along with Bonner County Sheriff’s Office, expresses their gratitude toward the community coming together to help locate her.
“The family just wants to share a hearty THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS to the people of Sandpoint,” Mohler’s grandfather, Norman Apfel, wrote in a Facebook post. “A lot of special friends for all your thoughts and prayers, the Bonner County Sheriff's Office (especially Detective Ted Swanstrom) the Williston, North Dakota Police Department the FBI, Miki and Taz for setting up this page (“Help Find Bailey”), all my extended family my stepdaughter Cathi, and all the people around the country.”
