COEUR d’ALENE — It is being billed as the ultimate showdown.

“Sell 1,500 dozen roses by Oct. 17 to support Couer d’Alene Rotary’s incredible work in the community," said Max Mendez said. 

The 35th year of the club’s annual rose sale began in style as members donned football uniforms and helmets while performing a skit Friday at The Coeur d’Alene Resort. 

Dressed as a referee, Abby Lenz said that last year, the Rotary Club gave out 20 $1,000 scholarships and $60,000 in grants to Canopy Village, the Excel Foundation, Safe Start, CDA Summer Theatre and Growing the STEM.  

Rotary Club sold 1,507 dozen roses in 2024 and raised more than $50,000.  

By meeting this year's goal, they'll be able to continue supporting students and community organizations. 

“Every bouquet you sell is more than flowers — it’s scholarships for local students and support for nonprofits right here in our community. The more roses we sell, the more money goes right back into making Coeur d’Alene stronger,” Mendez said. 

Roses are sold to the public. Buyers can donate a bouquet to a charity. Businesses can also participate as Patron Sponsors, receiving 25 dozen roses to keep for their team or pass forward to a nonprofit organization.  

Roses are $30 per dozen and orders and business sponsorships can be placed through Coeur d’Alene Rotary members by Oct. 17 or online at cdarotary.com.  

Roses will be delivered Oct. 24.
