Taylor Mire, Lewis-Clark State College Golf

A 2025 graduate of Sandpoint High, Taylor shot her first two career birdies, sunk 24 pars and fired in a 13-over-par total gross across two rounds (78-79) to place tied for 15th out of 43 golfers at the Walla Walla University Invitational held Monday and Tuesday at the Wine Valley Golf Club. The former two-time Inland Empire League district champion's first career rounds were the fourth best for the Lady Warriors, which placed third out of eight scoring teams. Lewis-Clark State College will travel to Le Mars, Iowa, on Monday and Tuesday for the Northwest Iowa National Invitational at Willow Creek Golf Club.

Matyus McLain, University of Idaho Football

A 2023 graduate of Priest River High, Matyus recorded a career-high seven tackles, three of which were for losses that totaled 19 yards, as the Fightin' Taters clinched a 37-30 non-conference home win over St. Thomas Saturday at the Kibbie Dome. The redshirt sophomore defensive end had 1.5 sacks for losses of four (assisted) and seven yards (solo) for Idaho (1-1), which hosts Utah Tech for another home non-conference matchup this Saturday at 1 p.m. The game, which is the first-ever matchup in history between the Vandals and Trailblazers, will be played in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Kibbie Dome. The game will be broadcasted on SWX and ESPN+.

Kylie Burnett, St. Lawrence University Soccer

A 2022 graduate of Shattuck-St. Mary's (Faribault, Minn.) who also played soccer for Sandpoint High, Kylie recorded her first career collegiate assist in a game against Nazareth University (W 2-1) this past Saturday. The senior defender also received the start in a recent game against Rochester University (T 0-0), playing the full 90 minutes — just like she has in all four of the Saints' games so far this season. St. Lawrence (1-1-2) will travel to Oswego State this Saturday and to SUNY Canton on Tuesday.

Kimberly Yarnell, Northwest University Soccer

A 2023 graduate of Sandpoint High, Kimberly tallied the full 90 minutes in a recent game against Park University of Gilbert, Ariz. (W 1-0) and played 62 minutes in a game against Lewis & Clark College (W 3-2) as the Lady Eagles rounded out non-conference play this past week. The former All-Inland Empire League midfielder has amassed 388 minutes played and has started in all six games thus far for Northwest University (4-2), which will travel to Oregon Tech on Friday, Sept. 19, and Southern Oregon on Sunday, Sept. 21, for their first conference matchups of the year.

Braylyn Bayer, Weber State University Golf

A 2024 graduate of Bonners Ferry High, Braylyn, playing as an independent, sunk seven birdies, 36 pars and recorded a 5-over-par total gross across three rounds (73-76-72) to place tied for 24th out of 66 golfers in her season opener at the Wolverine Invitational (Utah Valley University) held Monday and Tuesday at the Talons Cove Golf Club in Saratoga Springs. The former 4A state champion's even-par 72 third round was a collegiate career-best for the Lady Wildcats, which placed third out of 10 scoring teams. Weber State will host the Utah Shootout on Sunday and Monday at the Wolf Creek Resort Golf Course in Eden, Utah.

Avery Bayer, Idaho State University Golf

A 2024 graduate of Bonners Ferry High, Avery was the Lady Bengals' No. 1 finisher at the Wolverine Invitational with a collegiate career-best 11-over-par total gross across three rounds (74-78-75), which placed her in tied for 38th amongst the 66-golfer field. The former Badger standout fired in eight birdies and 31 pars, and her 2-over-par 74 was a collegiate career best round. Idaho State returns to action Monday and Tuesday at the Yellowstone Invitational hosted by Montana State University at the Riverside Country Club in Bozeman, Mont.

Aubree Lane, Spokane CC Volleyball

A 2024 graduate of Sandpoint High, Aubree recorded a combined 30 kills, one assist, two aces, 21 digs, and six blocks in games against Highline (W 3-0), College of the Rockies (W 3-0), Yakima Valley (3-1) and Carroll College JV (W 3-0) this past Friday and Saturday at the North Idaho Crossover tournament held at both the Spokane Colleges and North Idaho College. The former All-Inland Empire League selection reached both 200 career kills and 200 career digs with the performance. Spokane (5-2) will play Chemeketa, Everett, Green River and Umpqua at the NWAC Crossover tournament this Friday and Saturday in Everett.

Emma Thielbahr, University of Denver Soccer

A 2022 graduate of IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) who also played soccer for Sandpoint High, Emma started and played in all 90 minutes in recent away games against Arizona (L 2-1) and Arizona State (L 3-1). Across the first seven games of the year, the redshirt junior defender has started and played the full 90 minutes in all but one game, accounting for 599 total minutes this season for the Lady Pioneers. The University of Denver (2-2-3) hosts Colorado on Thursday for Pepsi Student Kick'n It night and Colorado State Sunday for CHSAA Day. Both games will be streamed on the Summit League Network.

Kimberly Lucas, University of Maine at Fort Kent Volleyball

A 2025 graduate of Bonners Ferry High, Kimberly recorded a number of career firsts in her first three games as a Lady Bengal. Across the team's season-opening road double header against the University of Maine at Presque Isle (L 3-1, L 3-1) and a home match against Thomas College (L 3-2), the former All-Intermountain League outside hitter racked up a team-high 27 kills (2.8 kills per set), 17 digs, four aces, two assists and two blocks to go along with 69 serve receptions. UMaine at Fort Kent (0-3) hosts Husson University on Wednesday and Central Maine CC on Saturday.
