SILVERTON — Sophomore quarterback Cooper Miller threw three touchdown passes to three different receivers as the Miners beat the Eagles in a nonleague game at the Sather Field Athletic Complex.
Sophomore Lennox Radford had three touchdowns, one receiving for Wallace (2-0), which hosts Clark Fork in a nonleague game next Friday.
“Our offense was efficient and executed really well,” Wallace coach Jared Young said. “The defense played together and played good hard-nosed football for our first shutout in multiple years. It was a total team effort win.”
The Miners led 54-0 at halftime.
It was the season opener for Soap Lake.

WALLACE — Kylee Phillips had eight kills, three blocks and 21 digs for the Miners in a 25-18, 25-17, 13-25, 11-25, 17-15 win over the Wampus Cats in the Scenic Idaho Conference opener for both at Kirby Krulitz Court.
Khepri Wood had six kills and three blocks, Megan Hull 11 kills and eight digs, Aubrey Birdsell 18 assists, 10 digs and two kills and Kayden Stutzke 12 assists and four aces for Wallace.

HARRISON FLATS — Senior Aubrey Birdsell had 23 assists and three aces as the visiting 2A Miners beat the 1A Warriors 25-12, 25-9, 25-7 in nonleague play.
Kylee Phillips added nine kills, 14 digs and three aces for Wallace. Khepri Wood had seven kills, Kayden Stutzke nine assists and seven aces, freshman Rory Kromer six kills.
Kootenai coach Elexus Moore-Rich said Iva Hugo led the team with her serves, Brooklyn Charles and Kahlen Tondevold with their digs, and Chloe Dorman with her blocks.
“Wallace has always been our toughest team to play,” Moore-Rich said. “In the past, we had trouble just being able to volley against them, but tonight was different. Our girls were able to block, dig, and spike against them. This is a huge win for us. We are looking forward to playing Wallace again once we have a few more games under our belt.”

KELLOGG — Paige Yrjana had 12 kills and two aces, Gretah Angle nine kills, three aces and 12 assists for the Wildcats in a 25-10, 25-20, 25-20 nonleague win over the Bantams at Andrews Gymnasium.
“It was a good home opener with lots of energy from a great crowd tonight,” Kellogg coach Hollie Yrjana said. “We were able to defeat a much bigger Clarkston with a fast tempo game and consistent serving.”
Ella Yrjana had eight kills and 14 assists for Kellogg.

PRIEST RIVER — The visiting Wildcats swept the Spartans in Central Idaho League play, 28-26, 25-19, 25-22.
Sophomore Ella Yrjana finished with eight kills and 20 assists for the Wildcats.
“Consistent serving and playing with grit gave us the edge to come up with the victory against the scrappy Priest River team,” Kellogg coach Holly Yrjana said.
Wildcat Junior Jordyn Stutzke finished with 15 digs, while Paige Yrjana notched nine kills.

ATHOL -- Coeur d’Alene junior Wyatt Carr won the boys varsity race in the Timberlake Farragut Invitational, finishing in 15 minutes, 36.70 seconds to lead the Vikings to the team title at Farragut State Park on Saturday.
Kellogg junior Shadrach Creswell finished inside the top 100 (19:10.9) in a crowded field that included several 6A, 5A, and 4A schools.
The Wildcats will run this Saturday at the Bonners Ferry Invitational.
