9/11 memorial events slated Thursday

Several 9/11 memorial events are scheduled Thursday in Kootenai and Shoshone counties.

Spirit Lake Fire Protection District will host a ceremony at 8:45 a.m. at Spirit Lake Fire District Station 1, 32168 N. Sixth Ave. A moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. will mark the time the first plane hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center. 

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a ceremony at 11 a.m. at Black Sheep Sporting Goods at the Silver Lake Mall. 

Shoshone County Fire District No. 1 will host a memorial stair climb at 9 a.m. at 604 Hotel St. in Wallace. In remembrance of the first responders who died on 9/11, participants will climb 110 flights of stairs. The event is open to all.
