Bigfork senior Nic Gustavson delivered the highlight for the Vikings at last week's Flathead Invite, racing to a personal-best 18:03 to finish 67th overall against a massive field of more than 170 runners.
Behind him, junior Otto Schurke clocked 19:03 for 103rd place, while senior Fisher Sliter wasn’t far off, finishing in 19:55 (122nd). The Vikings’ pack was completed by younger contributors, showing signs of depth that should pay off in upcoming Northwest A meets.
Gustavson’s sub-18 effort was a breakthrough, giving Bigfork a low stick to compete with larger schools. Schurke and Sliter’s steady outings provided valuable support, keeping the Vikings competitive in the team standings.
On the girls side, Bigfork freshman Toren Wenz announced herself in a big way at the Flathead Invite, surging to 26th overall in 20:49.48 against a field loaded with AA frontrunners.
Wenz secured a top-30 finish and her sub-21 clocking provides the Vals a legitimate scoring threat to anchor results.
