She was born May 3, 1952, at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas, daughter of the late Ronald and Virginia Bunch.
Chris is survived by her husband of 52 years, Rob Shrider; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert and Kimberly Shrider of Idaho and James and Randi Shrider of Montana; daughter and two sons-in-law Glenn and Melanie Miller of Montana and Rob Olson of Montana; 14 grandchildren and one grand son-in-law, Laura Miller, Samantha Rand, Taylor and Montana Brown, Augustus Shrider, Kellan Miller, Loren Olson, Susan Shrider, Kathryn Shrider, James Shrider, Rosslyn Miller, Lorelei Olson, Magaidh Miller, Cooper Shrider and Kevin Shrider; and two great-grandchildren, Hayden Brown and Ella Brown.

Chris was raised by her grandmother and aunt in New Jersey and spent summers in Vermont. Upon graduating from high school, she moved to Great Fall, Mont., to attend college where she eventually met her husband and had two children. Then they moved to Ronan, had two more children and raised their family there.
Some of her greatest joy came from her four children. They created many memories while enjoying family trips to the Oregon coast. Chris even lived in Alaska for several months to help watch her grandchildren while her son completed college.
She completed her college degree after her children were grown and worked as a nurse for several years before helping out at the family sporting goods store in Ronan as the bookkeeper. She also volunteered at the local Breadbasket and helped others in need.
Her legacy will carry on forever reminding us to be kind to others. To choose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service, as Jesus has shown us to be.
A funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, at the Sacred Heart Church in Ronan, with Father Brooks. A burial followed at the cemetery in Ronan and then a gathering of family and friends at the Parish Hall in Ronan. Messages of condolences may be shared with the family online at shriderthompson.com.
