Polson volleyball sweeps Corvallis in season opener

The Polson Lady Pirates started their season in dominant fashion last Thursday night, sweeping Corvallis 25-9, 25-16, 25-18 in non-conference volleyball action.
Behind a balanced attack at the net, Polson (1-0) wasted little time setting the tone. Senior Mckenna Corley led the charge with 11 kills and an impressive seven aces, establishing herself as both an offensive weapon and a serving threat. Embree Bird and Zailee Hewankorn added six kills apiece, while Opal Nash and Eliza Todd chipped in four and three, respectively.
Setter Rylee Taylor-Jefferson spread the ball efficiently, handing out 17 assists to pace the offense. Greta Lund contributed seven assists, while Aleysia Black anchored the defense with a team-high nine digs. Bird added seven digs to her stat line, and Corley and Lund each picked up four.
Todd made her presence felt at the net with two blocks, while Bird, Black, and Taylor-Jefferson kept the attack flowing with multiple assists.
Polson’s aggressive serving kept Corvallis (0-1) off balance all night, with 15 aces in total. The Lady Pirates will look to carry their momentum into conference play as they continue their September schedule.
