PREP ROUNDUP: Trojans battle with Mt. Spokane, Mead

POST FALLS — Teresa Smith had 17 kills for the Post Falls Trojans in a 16-25, 25-22, 25-21, 20-25, 15-13 loss to the Mt. Spokane Wildcats in a nonleague match at The Arena on Wednesday.
Zuri Blood had 10 kills and three aces, Lucy Carr 21 assists, 14 digs and four aces, Mia Carr 18 digs, Claire Ziegler 19 assists for Post Falls against Mt. Spokane. Tiffany Fox and Reese DeGraw-Tryall had one block each for the Trojans.
“Our girls came out strong in the first set against Mt. Spokane,” Post Falls coach Matt Barkley said. “They fought hard to push the match to five and just came up short against a really tough team.”
Later, Blood had 13 kills and four aces, Malia Uemoto 12 kills for the Trojans in a 25-21, 25-21, 23-25, 25-19 loss to Mead.
“The Mt. Spokane match took a lot out of us and we didn’t have a lot in the tank for Mead,” Barkley said. “But I was really proud of how hard everyone played tonight.”
Lucy Carr had 24 assists, Ziegler 16 assists, Teresa Smith 18 digs and two aces and DeGraw-Tryall three blocks and Fox two blocks for Post Falls (2-3), which hosts Gonzaga Prep tonight at 7.

Focke, Wilson second
for Viks in McCall
McCALL — Coeur d’Alene’s Ben Focke and Ella Wilson finished second for the Vikings in the Jugg Mountain Invitational on Tuesday at Jugg Mountain Ranch Golf Course.
Focke shot a 72 to finish tied for medalist, but lost in a playoff.
Wilson finished tied with Cara Carter of Bishop Kelly in Boise, who won medalist honors in a playoff.
Jossetta Williams, playing as an individual, finished eighth for Coeur d’Alene.
Boise won the boys tournament and Rocky Mountain of Meridian won the girls tournament.
