PRIEST RIVER — Junior Raygn Turner tallied a team-high seven kills and seven digs, senior Jayda Storro dished out a team-high 12 assists and served up a team-high six aces and the Lady Spartans swept the Lady Grizzlies (25-15, 25-23, 25-10) in their non-league homecoming game held Thursday night at Priest River High.

Priest River High head coach Katlyn Ward said the team came out hot in the first set, won the second despite some unforced errors, and really played their hearts out in third for the 15-point set victory and sweep.

Offensively, Storro added six kills, mostly on setter dumps, while sophomore McKinley Burgess-Duquette had four kills of her own. Behind the service line, Turner recorded three aces, Burgess-Duquette one and junior Callie Stanger one for the Lady Spartans, which started off the match on a 6-0 run and never looked back. On defense, senior Toni Marinello chipped in six digs, senior Aleigha Jensen two blocks in the winning effort.

For Newport, senior Lindsay Collison had four kills, junior Kenna Arthur had eight assists, and junior Kaylia Earl had an ace on offense. Junior Grace Keck chipped in 15 digs and sophomore Grace Parry contributed three blocks on the defensive side of the ball.

Priest River (6-1) hosts Grangeville for a 3A Central Idaho League game Saturday.

Newport (2-1) faces Chewelah for a league match on Tuesday.

Lady Cats clinch first league win

POST FALLS — At the Courts at Real Life, junior Nora-Jean Hoy produced a team-high nine kills, freshman Vanessa Rogier served up a team-high seven aces and the Lady Cats swept the Lady Jaguars (25-15, 25-12, 25-17) for their first 2A Scenic Idaho Conference win since joining the league in 2024.

Freshman Kiylah Anderson registered a team-high 19 assists and six aces while Rogier had six kills in the winning effort. Hoy, who had near perfect serve receive passing on the night, added four aces of her own.

"She was consistent on both offense and defense," Clark Fork High head coach Lyndsie Kiebert-Carey said of Hoy. "Our serve receive passing overall is very consistent, and it's nice as a coach to be able to say that after years of feeling like it was our kryptonite."

Kiebert-Carey said despite the contrast in playing environments between the The Courts at Real Life and Clark Fork High, her team came through.

"It took us a minute to get comfortable, but once we did, we served strong and passed really well ..." Kiebert-Carey said. "We were able to find success when we used some of our tools when attacking."

Senior Piper Scarlett had five kills for Clark Fork (3-4), which will travel to Kootenai Tuesday for a non-league matchup.
