The sixth annual Boundary County Fair opens here one week from today , and all indications are that it will be by far the biggest event of its kind ever held in North Idaho. The fair association has not been put to as much expense this year as was necessary last year, and consequently, more of the funds raised for fair purposes can be expended on entertainment features.
The Rev. Father James J. Purcell, age 65, one of the most widely known Catholic priests of the northwest, died at Wallace, Idaho, last Thursday of heart trouble, induced by diabetes. Father Purcell spent many years of his life among the missions of Northern Idaho.
At the meeting of the board of directors of the Leonia Gold Mining Company held at Leonia Monday, it was decided to continue placer work for another month or two, with a small crew. When the cold weather sets in this crew will be transferred to work on the quartz claims until spring.

Interstate Production Credit Association and the Federal Land Bank opened a joint office in Bonners Ferry.
Dr. James Hill was elected Chief of Staff of Boundary County Community Hospital.
The county's valuation figure is $15,633,522.
