Vikings volleyball sweeps Two Eagle

The Charlo Lady Vikings opened their weekend in style, sweeping visiting Two Eagle River in three sets (25-16, 25-14, 25-16) on Saturday, September 6.

Charlo’s balanced attack and steady serving proved too much for the Eagles to handle. Sophomore outside hitter GG Hawk led the front line with 13 swings, converting eight kills on a .538 hitting percentage. She also provided nine assists and four service aces in a versatile outing.

Brielle Zempel added consistent offense with nine kills on 16 attempts, while also tallying nine assists and five digs. Olivia Carnell chipped in three kills and two service aces, while Madison Harris was efficient with a .500 hitting clip on limited swings.

The Lady Vikings spread the ball well across the net. Zempel set the tone with 17 assists to go along with a service ace and a block, while Shoni Matt added seven assists and three digs from the back row. Maizey McDonald showed flashes with five attack attempts, turning in a pair of kills and steady passing.

Defensively, Charlo’s back line kept rallies alive. Zempel paced the group with five digs, while Matt and Carnell collected three each. The Vikings recorded 10 total digs in the match and passed at an 80 percent clip on serve-receive.

At the service line, Charlo combined for 18 aces, led by Hawk’s four and Zempell’s three. Bryanne Zempel, Matt, and Carnell also chipped in with multiple aces apiece, keeping Two Eagle River out of rhythm.

The win showcased Charlo’s depth, as 10 different players saw court time and several contributed across multiple statistical categories.
