PREP VOLLEYBALL: Timberlake, Lakeside post big league wins

SPIRIT LAKE — Freshman Everlee Powell had eight kills and nine blocks as the Timberlake Tigers swept the visiting Bonners Ferry Badgers 25-20, 25-18, 25-15 in the Intermountain League opener for both schools Thursday. 

Amarijana Olivieri added eight kills and eight digs for Timberlake (4-2). Addie Archer had 12 digs and two aces, Layla Webb seven blocks, Jordyn Parke 13 assists and three aces, Willow Mattson 13 assists and seven digs, Ella Johnsen 14 digs, Shae Jones four kills, six blocks and three aces. 

“Everyone contributed to the win,” Timberlake coach Lisa Gardom said. “They kept their intensity high and each set was a little better than the last. We served aggressively, had good communication and moved the ball around well." 

For Bonners Ferry (1-8), Taren Bateman had nine kills, Jaycee Bateman four aces, Josie Reenie eight digs.

PLUMMER —Senior Kimberly Pluff had 11 kills and 15 digs as the host Knights beat the Miners 25-22, 25-23, 13-25, 25-23 in a key Scenic Idaho Conference match at Ron Miller Court. 

Tylah Lambert added five kills, 27 assists and eight digs for Lakeside (5-0, 3-0 SIC). Rayna Schatz had five kills, seven digs and two aces, Ambi Aldrich four kills, Saydee Peone eight kills and six digs, Allisue Hendrickx six digs, Laila Charley three digs. 

"We were ready for Wallace,” Lakeside coach Devyn Moore said. “My seniors tonight played all out, from aggressive swings by Pluff to Izzy Kee’s serves. Tylah was everywhere and Rayna played one heck of a net game. My serve receive was on point and we were ready to play. What a great win.” 

Lakeside plays host to the Coeur d’Alene JV on Saturday.

Senior Megan Hull had 13 kills and two aces, senior Kylee Phillips 11 kills, 21 digs, three blocks, senior Aubrey Birdsell 18 assists and 12 digs, senior Anna Rehnborg 14 digs, junior Grace DeLano five kills and junior Kayden Stutzke 17 assists and eight digs for Wallace (5-2, 1-1), which hosts St. Maries on Tuesday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Junior middle blocker Jovie Le led the way with nine kills and five blocks as the Vikings swept the Hawks 25-21, 25-19, 25-14 in nonleague play at Viking Court. 

“We were able to feed our middles a little better tonight,” Coeur d’Alene coach Carly Curtis said. “She did a great job making herself available, and did a great job blocking funneling balls to our defense.” 

Kaylee Paulson had 13 kills, nine digs and an ace for Coeur d’Alene (6-0). Gianna Callari added 11 kills and three blocks, Hannah Shafer 37 assists and an ace, Bridget Maiani 11 digs and an ace, Embree McKeown nine digs.  

“I just think we showed grit again,” Curtis said. 

For Lakeland (2-3), Kindell Day had five kills and nine assists, Alyssa Ryckman six kills, Jolie Warren five kills and two blocks, Chloe Neff six digs, Raygen Dutton two aces. 

"We showed grit and determination early, but their power and consistency took over in the third set, and we couldn’t regain the momentum,” Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger said. “Chloe stood out with her steady serve receive, strong defensive play, and vocal leadership.” 

Coeur d’Alene plays at the Freeman Rip-A-Shot Tournament on Saturday in Rockford, Wash. 

Lakeland travels to Moscow on Tuesday.

MOSCOW — Junior Camryn Woodman had 17 kills, 14 digs and eight aces as the visiting Timberwolves beat the Bears in a wild match at Bear Den. 

Kate Moglia had 21 assists, eight kills and four aces for Lake City (2-4), which stopped a four-match slide. Sofia Peressini added 16 digs, Alaina Freed eight aces, two kills and a block.  

“Really impressed with our perseverance through adversity tonight,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said. “Moscow didn’t back down. It was great to continue to be tested in that way, and additionally, come out on top. Big performance from our freshman, Alaina, but an all-around team win with everyone contributing.” 

Moscow is 7-2.

Post Falls 

POST FALLS — In their third match against a Greater Spokane League school in two nights, the host Trojans fell to the Bullpups 25-16, 25-20, 25-17 at the Arena. 

“Another big test for us tonight,” Post Falls coach Matt Barkley said. “Gonzaga Prep is a strong team, and we were right there with them. We came out a little timid in the first set, but bounced back to take an early lead in the second set thanks to some great serving from Zuri Blood and timely hitting by Teresa Smith. I’m really proud of how our girls have played over the past two nights. I like the direction we are heading right now.” 

Smith had eight kills and eight digs for Post Falls (2-4). Blood had four kills and two aces, Tiffany Foxx four kills and three blocks, Lucy Carr 17 assists, Claire Ziegler eight assists and two aces, Malia Uemoto three blocks, Mia Carr 10 digs. 

For Gonzaga Prep, Mara Sandberg had 14 kills, 17 digs and four aces, Noella Migliuri 32 assists, Cienna Pierpoint 20 digs. 

Post Falls takes on another GSL foe on Monday, hosting University.

St. Maries 

KELLOGG — Gretah Angle had eight kills, Peyton Storey seven kills for the Wildcats in a 25-12, 25-7, 25-10 Central Idaho League win over the Lumberjacks at Andrews Gymnasium. 

Paige Yrjana had eight kills, Ella Yrjana 16 assists and 10 aces and Jordyn Stutzke 10 digs for Kellogg (6-0, 3-0 CIL), which hosts Grangeville today at 4 p.m. 

Dimercia Spooner had five kills and three digs for St. Maries (0-4, 0-2), and Taryn Brebner had six assists.

“Roslynn Shoemaker (a floater) had a super passing game in her first varsity game,” St. Maries coach Tammie Woster said. “We’re seeing more improvements as we are getting more gym time.” 

St. Maries competes in the Freeman Rip-A-Shot tournament on Saturday in Rockford, Wash.

MULLAN — Senior Kate Clemens and junior Angelica Ross had five aces each as the visiting Saints swept the Tigers 25-9, 25-11, 25-17 in North Star League play at the Mullan Pavilion. 

Maddie Junkin had six kills, Espi Klocko eight digs for Coeur du Christ (2-3, 2-0 NSL), which plays host to Genesis Prep next Tuesday. 

Mullan (2-2, 1-1) plays host to Genesis Prep tonight.
