SANDPOINT — A man with a lengthy history of domestic violence has been charged with several counts of sexual abuse stemming from incidents allegedly occurring in 2020.
Timothy Buxton, 39, is charged with rape, video voyeurism and forcible penetration by use of foreign object.
If convicted, Buxton could face up to life in prison and a $150,000 fine.
He was originally arrested in November 2024 in Broadwater County.
According to jail records, Buxton was transferred to Bonner County custody Wednesday, Sept. 10. He is currently being held at the county jail on a $100,000 bond.
Officials became aware of Buxton’s alleged crimes after the victim reported multiple videos that she had found on Buxton’s phone dating back to 2020.
According to court documents, the videos allegedly show Buxton sexually assaulting the woman while unconscious.
Because of the seriousness of the charges, Buxton is scheduled for a preliminary hearing that is scheduled for the entire afternoon of Sept. 18 in front of Magistrate Judge Luke Hagelberg.
Court documents indicate that Buxton has a lengthy history of domestic violence charges, followed by multiple no contact order violations stemming from 2004 to the charges alleged in 2020.
