22 Nov. 1952 — 18 Aug. 2025

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Mo, who was called home to the Lord on Aug. 18, 2025, surrounded by family in her home in Sagle, Idaho.

Born on Nov. 22, 1952, on Fairchild Air Force Base to Cecil and Leola McConnell, Mo grew up with boundless imagination and an adventurous spirit. She poured joy into everything the touched — quilting masterpieces, crafting treasures, gardening, baking, or collecting the rocks that she loved. She shared her cooking generously, spreading love through offerings she carried to church and family gatherings. Her hands and mind were never still, and her dreams for life and adventure knew no limits.

Mo was happiest outdoors — gathered with family around a campfire singing, cutting wood for the North Idaho winters, walking a shoreline or mountain trail, or finding the perfect rock. Even after her stage 4 cancer diagnosis in March 2024, her adventurous spirit never dimmed. She created memories with her quilting tribe, cherished the beauty of North Idaho, explored the Black Hills and the Everglades, and most recently enjoyed a trip to the Oregon coast with family. Her love for life proved stronger than illness. A true fighter, and with the unwavering support of her husband, Les, she defied the odds and lived more than a year beyond what was expected.

Above all, Mo loved God, her family, and her friends. To her beloved grandchildren, she was “Moma.” Her faith was her foundation, and she was a light to all who knew her. She made everyone feel welcome, special and heard. A loyal confidant and comforting presence, Mo carried Joy wherever she went.

Mo is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Les; their three children, Nathan, Eric and Chelsea and spouses; grandson Marshall; granddaughters Malia and Ellis; siblings Laura, Marv and Charlie and spouses; extended family and her beloved dogs. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Leola; and her nephew, Sean. Her legacy of love, faith and creativity lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Though our hearts ache with her loss, we rejoice knowing she is whole again — free from pain, at peace within God’s presence, and her spirit will continue to inspire creativity, adventure, laughter, and above all love.

A memorial and celebration of life will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at the First Lutheran Church in Sandpoint, Idaho, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests are encouraged to wear joyful colors and if they wish, bring a small rock to leave in her memory, to be placed on her grave in the private family cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
