The Parade of Homes begins today and celebrates local builders while showcasing their creativity.
It features 13 homes over two weekends in Kootenai County through the North Idaho Building Contractors Association.
This is the first year Cody and Karri Rauen of Silver Ridge Construction have taken part in the Parade of Homes.
Cody said the couple felt the time was ripe this year to put the ShiLOh forth as a featured home because of its unique conversion from another silo on the property into a house.
“There were five silos on the owner’s property and he suggested we turn one of these into a house. It’s a little oasis,” Cody said. “We named it the Shiloh because it means ‘place of peace’ in Hebrew.”
The ShiLOh was built in tandem with the next-door shop silo and was recently completed.
Cody called it a fun and challenging project requiring all custom home pieces.
“God’s blessed me with an amazing team,” Cody said. “I want people to see the care, the craftsmanship, the uniqueness. We have the ability to build anything.”
Anthem Pacific Homes, Aspen Homes, Atlas Building Group, CopperCreek Construction Northwest, Hayden Homes, StanCraft Construction Group, Monogram Homes, Northwest Custom Homes Inc., Timbered Ridge Homes, Silver Ridge Construction and Viking Homes are featured.
Jessica Campbell of Aspen Homes said they pushed their limits when it came to the design of The Hudson property being highlighted in the home show.
“The whole home was done with a lot of thought,” Campbell said.
As an interior designer at the building company, she was proud to show their custom work to the community, especially the dining room table, detailed cabinet work and specialized fireplace mantel.
“We’ve been building over 30 years and when they come in, hopefully, they take away the quality in detail for the client we put in to bring their vision to life,” Campbell said.
The event is a way for design afficionados to see some aspirational home design visions, gather ideas for renovation or be inspired by design choices. The Parade of Homes also serves as a NIBCA fundraiser.
“It allows us to celebrate our builders who are the core of our organization. In the midst of economic changes going on, we still have people building and we still have a beautiful place where people want to live,” Kacey Beal, director of special events.
Above all, the event is a way to celebrate the builders for putting the roofs over the community’s many heads.
“It’s a way for them for them to showcase their skill,” Beal said.
