PREP BOYS SOCCER: Sandpoint falls to Lewiston 2-0 in league matchup

I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | September 13, 2025 6:00 PM

Lewiston 2, Sandpoint 0

PONDERAY — Junior goalkeeper Landon Brinkmeier had six saves, but none of the Bulldogs' nine shots of goal found nylon in a 5A Inland Empire League loss to the Bengals on Saturday Afternoon at the Field of Dreams Sports Complex.

"We started the game on the front foot, but struggled with discipline in the first half as far as staying onside and having the intention and drive to put the ball in the back of the net," Sandpoint High head coach Dan Anderson said.

Anderson said in the second half, the Bengals came together as a team when they scored goals in the 50th and 55th minute to take home the 2-0 victory, whereas his Bulldogs didn't take collective ownership of their mistakes to turn things around.

"I'm eager to see how our team responds to this defeat," coach Anderson said.

Sandpoint (6-2-1) will look to get back into the win column Tuesday when they host Post Falls for a league matchup.

Lewiston (3-2) now leads the division with a 3-0 record in league play thus far.
