William 'Bill' Patterson Mecham, 90

William “Bill” Patterson Mecham, 90, passed away Monday, Sept. 1, 2025, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Bill was born Jan. 2, 1935, in Upalco, Utah, the son of Ephraim Leslie and Linda Mecham. He grew up in Upalco and Duchesne, Utah, going to elementary school. When he was in the seventh grade, the family would move to Springfield, Utah. He would graduate from Springfield High School and move to Sandpoint, Idaho.

Bill worked for Springs Lumber Company in Kootenai, Idaho, as a scaler. He would later marry June Pomeransky and would move to Seattle, Wash., where he would work for Boeing as a machinist. Western Gear would take over the machinist department where they would promote him to head machinist. Bill retired in 2002 and moved back to Sandpoint.

Bill is survived by his children, Rick (Debi) Mecham, DeAnna (Chuck) Hannum and Linda (Mark Bevilacqua) Ewing; sisters Lenora (David) Sumsion and Edna (Richard) Neer; grandchildren Jennifer, Jason, Eric, Marshall, Drew; and great-grandchildren Wilder, Andrew, Kaitlain, Leah, and Solona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ephraim Leslie and Linda; son David; brothers Ray, Lyle and Howard Mecham; sisters Retta Merkley Williams and Theo Snyder; and one grandson, Andrew.
